Tashichho Dzong

Phajoding Monastery

It is a serene monastery located at a higher elevation just outside Thimphu. The hike to Phajoding Monastery is one of the most scenic routes and popular trekking routes in Thimphu. The monastery is a peaceful retreat and one can encounter monks while visiting. The trek takes around 3 to 4 hours. It is breathtaking when it is lit up in the evening.

Day 1 - Arrival in Paro and transfer to Thimphu

Arrival at Paro International Airport. Arrive in Bhutan through Paro and then transfer to Thimphu which is approximately 2 hours by road. Check in at the hotel and take a light walk around Thimphu. You could visit the local market.

Day 2 - Explore Thimpu’s major attractions

We will mainly visit the popular places in Thimphu , the sightseeing spots. Morning we will visit Tashichho Dzong which is the seat of Bhutan’s government and home to the king's office. This beautiful fortress monastery is a must see for its architectural design and religious significance. Then we will visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa dedicated to Bhutan’s third king. Then we will visit Buddha Dordenma offering panoramic views of Thimpu. This is one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. We will then visit the Folk Heritage museum which showcases traditional Bhutanese living, artifacts and farming tools. Evening at the Thimphu night market. Day 3 - Cultural and Spiritual Exploration

Day 4 - Day trip to Phajoding Monastrey or Hiking Adventure

We can take a scenic hike to Phajoding Monastrey located on a hilltop overlooking Thimphu. Day 5 - Final Exploration and departure

We will visit the Royal Textile academy then lunch at a traditional Bhutanese restaurant. We will try their traditional dishes, Ema Datshi, Red rice and Phaksha Paa. After exploring Thimphu we will return back to Paro and then it is time for departure.
